SOFIA ELECTROCHEMICAL DAYS 2010
May 11-13, 2010 Sofia, Bulgaria
In memory of Academician Evgeni Budevski

Following the last two successful conference meetings, Sofia Electrochemical Days is establishing itself as an important national forum for exchanging information on the latest scientific and technical developments in the field of electrochemical science and technology. Sofia Electrochemical Days 2010 brings together both young and experienced Bulgarian and international scientists, engineers, and researchers from university, industry, and government to share results and discuss issues on a wide scope of electrochemical topics through a variety of formats, such as oral presentations, poster and educational sessions, and discussions.

Sofia Electrochemical Days 2010 is co-organized by the Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems (BAS), the Rostislaw Kaishew Institute of Physical Chemistry (BAS), and the Department of Inorganic and Electrochemical Production (UCTM) and held in the memory of Academician Evgeni Budevski, a world-renowned scientist and the founder of the Bulgarian Electrochemical School. SED2010 provides the opportunity to celebrate Adac. Budevski’s achievements and convene an electrochemical meeting in the spirit of his original and innovative scientific philosophy and work.

The technical exhibits during SED2010 provide an opportunity for the presentation and discussion of electrochemical and services by industry representatives.

Topics:
–  Fundamental Electrochemistry –  Industrial electrolysis processes
–  Hydrogen energy and Fuel cells –  Electrochemical corrosion and protection
–  Batteries and accumulators –  Testing methods and electrochemical instrumentation
–  Galvanic coatings

International Workshop
ADVANCES AND INNOVATIONS IN SOFCs

September 13-17, 2009 Katarino, Bulgaria
IDEAL-Cell
IEES - BAS

The International Workshop Advances and Innovations in SOFCs is organized within the framework of the 7 FP project “Innovative Dual Membrane Fuel Cell” (IDEAL-Cell), which aims at developing an innovative design of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) working with higher efficiency at lower (700-600oC) temperatures. The new concept combines the advantages, and eliminates the disadvantages of both oxygen conducting and proton conducting SOFCs, ensuring the production of the water in a third separate compartment.

Although organized for the exchange of knowledge and achievements related to the implementation of the project IDEAL-Cell, the Workshop “ADVANCES AND INNOVATIONS IN SOFCs” is open for both senior and junior researchers working in the field of SOFCs.

Topics
–  Materials and components for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) – processes and performance
–  Materials and components for proton conducting solid oxide fuel cells (PCFCs) – processes and performance
–  IDEAL-Cell concept – central membrane design, shaping and modeling
–  IDEAL-Cell concept – interconnection, cell and stack design and modeling
–  Neighboring problem areas Hotel_Katarino

Training Courses
–  The Technique of Plasma Spraying
–  Advancements in the Impedance Studies of SOFCs
–  Morphological modelling of heterogeneous media
–  An alternative graphical representation for complex impedance data
–  Ceramic shaping for Fuel Cell applications
–  History and advances on Interconnects Official Site
