HISTORICAL INFORMATION

 
THE CENTRAL LABORATORY OF APPLIED PHYSICS – PLOVDIV was founded in April 1979 as Laboratory of Applied Physics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). In 1984 a subsidiary pilot plant was established which in October of 1986 served as the base for launching a Small Enterprise for sensors and sensor units. Since 1 January 1986 the Laboratory has been transformed into an Institute of Applied Physics (IAP) of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. By the end of 1989 IAP and the Small Enterprise were unified. In 1995 as a result of structural changes at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, IAP was transformed into a Central Laboratory of Applied Physics (CLAP).
The IAP’s founders are: Prof. M. Borisov, fellow of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sci. J. Kassabov corresponding fellow of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. R.Kakanakov, Prof. Dr. Sci. A. Atanasov, Assoc. Prof. St. Mirchev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. L. Bedikian, Assoc.Prof. Dr. M. Neshev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. G. Sarov.
