On 27 April 2021, in the residence of the Japanese Ambassador a ceremony was held for awarding the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with honors by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan for 2020. The award was presented to the President of BAS Prof. Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, by H.E. Narahira Hiroshi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Bulgaria.

The award was given to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for its significant contribution to the promotion of friendly relations between Japan and Bulgaria in the field of science, innovation and culture. This award is a sign of the fruitful work of BAS with its partners from Japan.

As a sign of gratitude for the recognition, Prof. Julian Revalski presented to H.E. Narahira Hiroshi plaque “150 years of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences”.

The ceremony was attended, on the side of BAS, by the Vice-President Prof. Evdokia Pasheva and the Scientific Secretary-General Prof. Nelly Koseva.
