A new Agreement on Scientific Cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) and the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) was signed today at the Academy. The Vice-President of BAS Corr. Mem. Stefan Hadjitodorov and the President of ASRT Prof. Mahmoud Sakr signed the document in the presence of the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Khalid Ibrahim Emara.

The agreement enables the scientific teams from the research network units of the two academies to carry out two-year joint projects in the fields of “Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies”, “Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency”, “Nanosciences, New Materials and Technologies’, ‘Biomedicine and Quality of Life’, ‘Biodiversity, Bioresources and Ecology’, ‘Climate Change, Hazards and Natural Resources’, ‘Astronomy, Space Research and Technology’, ‘Cultural-Historical Heritage and National Identity’ and ‘Man and Society’.

During the talks at BAS, the current scientific projects and research of the Bulgarian and Egyptian scientists were discussed as well as the opportunities for expanding the contacts of the scientists from the two academies. Prof. Neli Koseva, Scientific Secretary-General of BAS, Dr. Gina El-Feki, Vice-President of ASRT and Mr. Adham Omar, Consul of the Arab Republic of Egypt, were also present at the signing ceremony.
