An exhibition of works of fine art by members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is open in the Central Foyer of the BAS until 3 December. Eight paintings and two sculptures mark the beginning of a permanent exhibition of artworks by Academy members. The idea is part of the management programme of Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, whose second term of office expires on December 7.
The exhibition includes works by Ivan Murkvicka, Ivan Lazarov, Dechko Uzunov, Todor Dinov, Iliya Petrov, Ivan Nenov, Rumen Skorchev, Svetlin Rusev and Vejdi Rashidov. Over the years, 17 artists have been members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, said Prof. Revalski at the official presentation of the exposition.
By a decision of the Governing Council of BAS, it was approved for the works to be exhibited in an exhibition hall (Winter Garden of the Royal Palace) at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum. This is the beginning of a large-scale project that will become the center of scientific and cultural life in Sofia, Assoc. Prof. Ralitsa Rousseva from the Institute of Art Studies of BAS said. She added that along with the works, information about the personality and creativity of the authors would be provided. The exposition will be expanded with works from other fields of art.
The official presentation of the exposition was attended by the rectors of the National Academy of Art and the National Academy of Music, Prof. Georgi Iankov and Prof. Sava Dimitrov, the donors of BAS Prof. Tsolo Vutov and Krasimir Dachev, members of the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members, the leadership of the BAS and directors of BAS institutes.
