The Assembly of Academicians elected today four new academicians of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the field of natural and mathematical sciences.<\/p>\n

Department of Mathematical Sciences:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

Academician Oleg Krastev Mushkarov<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was born in 1951.<\/p>\n

A world-class mathematician, with scientific contributions in such modern fields as differential geometry, multidimensional complex analysis and mathematical physics that are highly regarded worldwide. He has made significant contributions to raising the level of extracurricular work in mathematics with talented students in Bulgaria and abroad. Acad. Mushkarov works at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS. In 2012, he was elected\u00a0 a corresponding member of BAS.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0<\/strong>Academician Nikolay Vitanov Vitanov<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was born in 1964.<\/p>\n

He is a world-leading scientist in quantum informatics and coherent control of quantum systems. Among the first 2% of the world’s top scientists according to the prestigious Stanford University ranking. He is currently Vice-Rector for Research and Project Activities at Sofia University. In 2014, he was elected a corresponding member of BAS.<\/p>\n

Department of Chemical Sciences:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0<\/strong>Academician Nikolai Denkov Denkov<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was born in 1962.<\/p>\n

World-renowned scientist in the field of chemistry – colloid-dispersed systems and their applications in industry and household. Among the top 2% of the best scientists in the world according to the ranking of the prestigious Stanford University. He works at Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski\u201d – Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy. In 2018, he was elected a corresponding member of BAS.<\/p>\n

He was born in 1958.<\/p>\n

He is a world-renowned scientist in the field of surface chemistry, which underlies important processes such as adsorption and catalysis. Among the first 2% of the world’s top scientists as ranked by the prestigious Stanford University. He works at the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of BAS. In 2012, he was elected a corresponding member of BAS.<\/p>\n
