The \u201cProf. Marin Drinov“ prize for young scientists and „Ivan Evstratiev Geshov“ for youngest scientists of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were awarded during the solemn assembly on the occasion of May 24 which was held at the Academy. Seventeen young scientists were awarded for their achievements. The President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva presented the awards.<\/p>\n

I am happy to be at BAS because it is the institution that embodies the spirit of knowledge and culture, an institution not only with traditions but also on which we rely to live in a better future, Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev said in his address on the occasion.<\/p>\n

The Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil was an official guest at the ceremony and congratulated the winners. „May God grant you health, benevolent forces and courage to continue working in the field of science with zeal and with the awareness that your creative contribution is significant and important for our whole society which rejoices with gratitude at your successes,“ the Patriarch said in his speech.<\/p>\n

„I congratulate the young scientists who have been awarded the \u201cProf. Marin Drinov“ and „Ivan Evstratiev Geshov“ prizes for whom today is particularly significant. I am convinced that the recognition they have received will motivate them with responsibility and new successes to further expand the horizon of science and to work for the sake of social progress,“ President Rumen Radev’s congratulatory address sent on the occasion of the celebration of May 24 at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences reads.<\/p>\n

The prizes are awarded by the General Assembly (GA) for achievements in nine scientific fields.\u00a0 The winners of the „Professor Marin Drinov“ prize have a doctoral degree and are under 35 years of age. The youngest scientists awarded the \u201cIvan Evstratiev Geshov\u201d prize have the Master of Science degree and are under 30 years of age. The awards aim to identify and stimulate talented young scientists at BAS, to enable them to make early and successful international scientific contacts, to support their development and growth and to make work in science and in BAS in particular more attractive to young and talented specialists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
