The final of the seventh edition of the „My thesis in 180 seconds“<\/em> international PhD competition was held on 28 May at the \u201cProf. Marin Drinov\u201d Hall of BAS. Eight PhD students participated in the competition. They were evaluated by a jury with members Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva – Vice President of BAS, Prof. Laure Castin – Director of the Regional Office for Central and Eastern Europe of the Francophone University Agency, H.E. Jo\u00ebl Meyer – Ambassador of France to Bulgaria, Prof. Albena Vassileva – Director of the Francophone Centre at Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski\u201d and Mr. Angel Bandjov – Director of the Human Rights Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The young scientists were evaluated on three main criteria – rhetoric\/eloquence, reach of the presentation to the general public and originality of the presentation.<\/p>\n

Three jury awards were presented at the national final. The first prize was awarded to S<\/strong>ylvia Varhoshkova from the Institute of Molecular Biology at BAS,<\/strong> with the topic of her thesis „Role and dynamics of FET proteins at sites of complex DNA damage“<\/em> and scientific supervisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stoyno Stoynov. Second and third prizes were awarded to St<\/strong>iliana Petkova from Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“ and Desislava Nedyalkova from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE). The Audience Award went to Cl\u00e9ment B<\/strong>aulot-S<\/strong>ukov from the „Prof. Assen Diamandiev<\/strong>\u201d Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The <\/em>„Ma Th\u00e8se en 180 secondes“ (MT180)<\/em><\/a> international competition is a unique opportunity for young Francophone researchers to present their dissertation topic in a clear and accessible way, within three minutes. The challenge is to convince a jury of non-specialists of the relevance and originality of their research. Contestants can take advantage of special training sessions to <\/em>improve their science communication and public presentation skills.<\/em><\/p>\n
