A public lecture by Dr. Atanas Popov<\/a>, a specialist in European law, was held today at BAS. Dr. Atanas Popov introduced the audience to the history of the European Communities, focusing on the sociological and legal aspects of nuclear energy regulation in a comparative national and international context. The existence and activities of the European Atomic Energy Community are not widely known despite the enormous current interest in nuclear energy. Bulgaria is one of the Euratom member countries that intends to increase its nuclear investments.<\/p>\n

The lecture explained in a broader sense the functioning and sociological aspects of this part of European law in view of the growing challenges in the field which were mostly of an economic nature.<\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly of BAS, Prof. DSc Vassil Kirov, opened the event and moderated the discussion.<\/p>\n
