Vassil Nikolov, the Director of the National Archaeological Institute with Museum of BAS Assoc. Prof. Hristo Popov, and Prof. Necmi Karul from Istanbul University received &#8222;Guardian of Heritage&#8220; awards during the &#8222;Diplomacy of Wonders&#8220; event, which took place on June 16 (at the Ramada Hotel). It was hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey and the Cultural Heritage Society. The event was opened by Mrs. Slavka Bozukova, President of the Cultural Heritage Society and H.E. Mehmet Sait Uyan\u0131k, Ambassador of Turkey to Bulgaria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Acad. Nikolov was honored for his work on the prehistoric complex Provadia-Solnitsa, considered the oldest salt mining center in Europe, and Assoc. Prof. Popov for Ada Tepe near Krumovgrad considered the oldest European open-pit mine.
