<\/a>The Bulgarian team after the award ceremony<\/p><\/div>\n
The 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2025) was held from 10 to 20 July 2025, hosted by Sunshine Coast, Australia. A record 630 students from 110 countries participated in the most prestigious and oldest mathematics competition. The competition days were 15 and 16 July, with 3 problems to be solved, scored out of 7 points each, in 4 and a half hours. The problem coordination took place on 17 and 18 July and the closing ceremony on 19 July. The Bulgarian team consisted of 6 competitors. According to the official ranking, the results of the Bulgarian team in IMO in terms of participants and medals are as follows:<\/p>\n

- Angel Hristov, Burgas, \u201cAcad. Nikola Obreshkov\u201d School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (SMNS), 12th grade (7,7,7,5,7,1) 34 points, silver medal<\/strong> (one point short from gold)<\/li>\n
- Andrey Stefanov, Sofia, First Private Mathematical High School (FPMHS), 10th grade (7,7,1,7,7,7,1) 30 points, silver medal<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Veselin Markovich, Varna, \u201cDr. Petar Beron\u201d High School of Mathematics, 12th grade, (7,7,2,6,7,0) 29 points, silver medal<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Petko Lazarov, Burgas, \u201cAkad. Nikola Obreshkov\u201d SMNS, 12th grade (7,6,0,7,7,0) 27 points, bronze medal<\/strong> (one point short from silver)<\/li>\n
- Georgi Nikolov, Sofia, Sofia High School of Mathematics, 11th grade, (6,7,0,5,7,0) 25 points, bronze medal<\/strong><\/li>\n
- Iliya Vasilev, Sofia, FPMHS, 12th grade (7,6,1,7,0,0) 21 points, bronze medal<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
In the team standings, Bulgaria took 23rd place with 166 points. The winner was China with 231 points, followed by the USA (216 points) and South Korea (203 points). Team leaders were Prof. Emil Kolev (IMI-BAS) and Prof. Stanislav Harizanov (IICT and IMI-BAS).<\/p>\n
Bulgaria and Romania are the only countries that have participated in all 66 editions of the International Mathematical Olympiad. In total, over the years our students have won 57 gold, 133 silver and 124 bronze medals from this forum.<\/p>\n
