On February 26, 2026, the Image and Text Award was presented for the first time. established by the Bulgarian-European Cultural Dialogues Centr\u0435 \u043eoundation in recognition of the significant contribution of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruzha Marinska to Bulgarian art history and the study of Bulgarian art in the context of European cultural tradition.<\/p>\n

The award is given for original scientific works in the field of art studies published between January 1 and December 31, 2025, and aims to encourage and support the development of art studies in Bulgaria.<\/p>\n

The winner is Dr. Maria Miteva, associate professor at the Institute of Art Studies at BAS, head of the \u201cNew Bulgarian Art\u201d research group. She was honored for her monograph Art and Commission. On Artistic Practice in Bulgaria in the 1930s and Early 1940s<\/em> (\u201c\u0418\u0437\u043a\u0443\u0441\u0442\u0432\u043e \u0438 \u043f\u043e\u0440\u044a\u0447\u043a\u0430. \u0418\u0437 \u0445\u0443\u0434\u043e\u0436\u0435\u0441\u0442\u0432\u0435\u043d\u0430\u0442\u0430 \u043f\u0440\u0430\u043a\u0442\u0438\u043a\u0430 \u0432 \u0411\u044a\u043b\u0433\u0430\u0440\u0438\u044f \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0437 1930-\u0442\u0435 \u0438 \u043d\u0430\u0447\u0430\u043b\u043e\u0442\u043e \u043d\u0430 1940-\u0442\u0435 \u0433\u043e\u0434\u0438\u043d\u0438\u201d), published by the Institute of Art Studies – BAS. The decision was made by a jury consisting of: Ms. Adelina Fileva, director of the Sofia City Art Gallery; Prof. DSc Blagovesta Ivanova, Lyuben Karavelov Higher School; Dr. Rossitsa Gicheva, New Bulgarian University; Dr. Stoyan Sgourev, Audencia Business School \u2013 Paris; and Dr. Todor Petev, New Bulgarian University and \u201cMy Museum\u201d Foundation. The publication’s exceptional scientific contribution was highlighted, distinguished by its in-depth analysis of significant unexplored archival material as well as its clearly formulated socially significant problem and convincing interdisciplinary approach.<\/p>\n
