Pupils who participated in the \u201cScientist for a Day\u201d initiative were awarded certificates at a closing event held today at the Austrian Embassy. The joint initiative of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Austrian Embassy in Sofia gave pupils from schools in the capital the opportunity to learn about the work of Academy scientists in various scientific fields. To mark the conclusion of the initiative, they were congratulated by the Vice-President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva, and the Austrian Ambassador, H.E. Ms. Andrea Ikic-B\u00f6hm.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn just one day, you have stepped into the world of scientific research,\u201d said H.E. Iki\u0107-B\u00f6hm in her address to the participants, emphasizing that she hoped this would leave a lasting impression. She recalled that the initiative, launched in the context of International Women\u2019s Day, aimed to encourage young women to realize their potential in the field of science. The pursuit of knowledge is important for everyone. Your interest gives us reason to be optimistic about the future, the ambassador also said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope this initiative will become a tradition,\u201d said Evdokia Pasheva, Corresponding Member and Vice President of BAS. \u201cScience presents many challenges and requires a great deal of hard work and knowledge,\u201d she noted, thanking the mentors for sharing their experience and the young people for their enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

During their visit to BAS institutes, the pupils toured laboratories, participated in scientific experiments, and learned about the latest research and technological innovations in fields such as archaeology, mathematics, computer science, astronomy, biology, and chemistry.<\/p>\n
