A musical evening dedicated to the richness and diversity of classical music from the countries of the Danube region took place on April 21 in the \u201cProf. Marin Drinov\u201d Hall. The concert by the mozARTE Salzburg Trio was organized by BAS and the Austrian Cultural Forum Sofia to mark Bulgaria\u2019s presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region and in the spirit of Earth Day.<\/p>\n

The event was opened by the President of BAS, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, and Austrian Ambassador, H.E. Ms. Andrea Iki\u0107-B\u00f6hm. Corr. Memb. Slavcheva noted that this was the second joint initiative following the highly successful \u201cScientist for a Day\u201d event which inspired and encouraged young people to engage in science. \u201cToday\u2019s event also fits into the broader context of our cooperation within the framework of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region for which Bulgaria assumed the presidency this year. Part of the official calendar of the Bulgarian Presidency is the conference organized by BAS in June in Ruse under the title \u2018Danube Bridges \u2013 Science, Innovation, Business.\u2019 \u201cWe are convinced that such initiatives create sustainable ties and long-term partnerships between our countries, scientific organizations, and societies,\u201d said the President of BAS in her address.<\/p>\n
