The 22nd International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena and Related Equilibrium Processes (22ISSP) opened today in Sofia. The international scientific forum is taking place until 3 September at the National Centre of Excellence in Mechatronics and Clean Technologies, Geo Milev Campus.<\/p>\n

The conference is attended by scientists, researchers and specialists from 18 countries, including Germany, Spain, Portugal, the USA, Australia, Brazil and others.<\/p>\n

The symposium is organised by the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of BAS in collaboration with \u201cProf. Dr Assen Zlatarov\u201d State University – Burgas and is included in the official calendar of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).<\/p>\n

The programme of 22ISSP covers a wide range of contemporary scientific issues relating to the phenomena of solubility, phase equilibria, the thermodynamics of solutions, modelling and the experimental determination of equilibrium data. Particular attention is paid to the applications of this research in the fields of the environment, pharmacy, materials science and modern energy technologies.<\/p>\n

A special feature of the programme is the satellite workshop \u201cTailored Properties of Ionic Liquid Electrolytes for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications\u201d dedicated to the properties of ionic liquids as electrolytes for sustainable energy storage technologies. The workshop is linked to an IUPAC project and brings together specialists working on the standardisation of methods for characterising electrolytes, including their stability, viscosity, electrical conductivity and interphase properties.<\/p>\n

During the conference, the Franzosini Prize and the Balarew Award will also be presented, recognising significant scientific achievements in the field.<\/p>\n

Hosting 22ISSP in Bulgaria is an important opportunity to promote Bulgarian science and to establish Sofia as a venue for international scientific forums. The event brings together scientists from different disciplines who share a common interest in the fundamental processes underpinning many modern technologies and applications.<\/p>\n

Following the conclusion of the symposium, the scientific findings will also be published in special issues of international scientific journals, such as Pure and Applied Chemistry.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\t\t
