The event, organised jointly by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, was attended by the President of BAS, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva; the Vice-President Corresponding Member Evdokia Pasheva, and the Scientific Secretary of the \u201cCultural and Historical Heritage and National Identity\u201d Division, Assoc. Prof. Mario Ivanov.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of NAIM, Assoc. Prof. Hristo Popov, presented the achievements of archaeologists over the past twenty years. He explained that archaeological investigations at Trapezitsa had begun immediately after the Liberation of Bulgaria, initially carried out by local historians, teachers and educated individuals.
