The topic \u201cDeveloping innovative solutions to healthcare challenges through collaboration: \u00a0experience from the Netherlands\u201d was presented by Alain van Gool, Professor of Personalised Healthcare at Radboud University Medical Centre, Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The lecture was delivered during the academic seminar \u201cCurrent Issues in Science<\/em>\u201d which took place on 15 October in the \u201cProf. Marin Drinov\u201d Hall of BAS.<\/p>\n

Recognising contemporary challenges and building a community through multidisciplinary and international collaboration are key to making progress towards fully realising the potential of personalised medicine and achieving a tangible impact on people\u2019s lives. The lecture outlined the approaches adopted in the Netherlands to foster a culture of collaboration between researchers and experts in the field of translational medicine aimed at finding innovative solutions to overcome challenges in healthcare.<\/p>\n

Alain van Gool is an internationally recognised expert in the application of biomarkers in translational medicine and personalised healthcare. Over the past decade, Alain has broadened the scope of his work to further stimulate multidisciplinary and international collaboration, scientific innovation, translational medicine and the restructuring of research infrastructures for the development of new technologies, the use of data and artificial intelligence (AI).<\/p>\n
