The Cyrillo-Methodian Research Center commemorates the Dormition of St. Methodius Slavo-Bulgarian

On April 8, 2025, in the hall of the Czech Centre in Sofia, the Cyrillo-Methodian Research Centre of BAS commemorated the 1140th anniversary of the blissful dormition of St. Methodius Slavo-Bulgarian. Guests of the academic celebration were the Vice-President of BAS Prof. Shtelian Shterionov, the Deputy Director of the "St. Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher" National High School of Ancient Languages and Cultures (NGDEK) and conductor of the high school choir Mr. Daniel Ivanov, current and former colleagues from BAS and Sofia University, students, pupils and citizens. Conference of the International Association for Danube Research (IAD) gathers over 100 participants from 15 countries

The 45th Conference of the International Association for Danube Research (IAD) was officially opened today and brought together representatives of the scientific community, institutions, NGOs and partner projects from the Danube region. The Forum, which will run until 12 April, is jointly organised by the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research at BAS (IBER-BAS), the Climate, Atmosphere and Waters Research Institute at BAS (CAWRI), the IAD General Secretariat, the Danube Invasive Alien Species Network (DIAS) and the Union for Conservation of Nature. BAS celebrates the Forest Week

Scientists from three institutes of BAS participated in an initiative to reforest the campus of Scientific Complex 1. Several species of saplings were planted at the idea of young scientists from the Institute for Population and Human Studies, among which ginkgo biloba, common sycamore and red oak predominated. The event coincided with the celebration of "Forest Week" (7 - 14 April 2025) which this year is under the theme "A Century of Eternity in Creation, Conservation and Care". Scientists from the Forest Research Institute and the Space Research and Technology Institute also participated in the planting. The initiative “Two Academies – One Stage” starts with “Masterpieces of Opera and Operetta Classics”

The joint initiative of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Music, MUSICORUM VIA, has started with a concert entitled “Masterpieces of Opera and Operetta Classics. Two Academies - One Stage”. The event took place on 7 April at the “Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall with the participation of students from the Vocal Faculty of the “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Academy of Music. Minister Krasimir Valchev discusses changes in the curricula of humanitarian disciplines with scientists from BAS

  The Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev today discussed the vision for a comprehensive change in the Bulgarian language, literature and history curricula with scientists from the Institute for Bulgarian Language, the Institute for Literature and the Institute for Historical Studies of BAS. The meetings were also attended by the President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, who offered the assistance of the National Academic Network to hold discussions on the vision for curriculum change across the country. The first stage of the implementation of a project on the labour market in the conditions of euro area membership has been reported at the Economic Research Institute-BAS

Intermediate stage of the implementation of the research project "Adaptation of the labour market in the conditions of euro area membership: socio-economic dynamics, technological modernisation, demographic changes and educational restructuring" were reported at the Economic Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It is funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund at the Ministry of Education and Science and is implemented jointly by ERI at BAS, the lead organization SU "St. Kliment Ohridski" and the University of Reading in the UK.
