BAS and Institut Curie discussed the construction of BioMedRTC

The Vice-President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Corr. Memb. Evdokiya Pasheva, and the Scientific Secretary of the "Biomedicine and Quality of Life" division, Corr. Memb. Nina Atanasova, met with Dorthe Nickel, member of the management of Institut Curie, Paris, an International Relations Officer. The meeting was held at BAS in connection with the establishment of BioMedRTC - Centre of Excellence in Biomedical Research and Technology. The Institut Curie is a world-renowned research institute founded in 1909 by Marie and Pierre Curie. The Institute is a leader in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. Danube Academies Conference

The 12th Danube Academies Conference, organised by the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, took place in Ljubljana from 18 to 20 October 2023. The focus of the event was on pollution problems and challenges arising from climate change. The conference was opened by Prof. Klaus Mainzer, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and by Prof. Peter Štih, President of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Invited speakers were scientists from Germany, Slovenia, Montenegro, Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Belarus. The building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences won the Golden Facade Award

The renovation of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences building in Sofia won the Golden Facade prize in the "Renovation of Historical Buildings" category in the eighteenth “Facade of the Year 2022-2023” competition of “Baumit Bulgaria”. The investor Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the person of the President Prof. Julian Revalski, the designers arch. Milena Krachanova, restorer Aglika Ikonomova, eng. Marian Valchev and Rosen Yovchev and the contractor “EM Building 2020” association. BAS celebrates the 185th anniversary of the birth of its first president and co-founder Prof. Marin Drinov

On the occasion of the 185th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Marin Drinov, wreaths and flowers at his monument in Scientific Complex 1 of BAS were presented by the President of the Academy Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, and representatives of the management of the Academy, the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members and the Institutes of the Academy, the Director General of BTA Kiril Valchev and journalists. Meeting of Prof. Revalski with BTA Director General Kiril Valchev

The celebration of the 185th anniversary of the birth of the first president and co-founder of the Bulgarian Learned Society (today Bulgarian Academy of Sciences), Prof. Marin Drinov, were discussed at a meeting today by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, and the Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Kiril Valchev. Prof. Marin Drinov was born on October 20, 1838 in the town of Panagyurishte. New supercomputer Hemus presented by IICT-BAS

A unique infrastructure complex opened its doors A new infrastructure complex with state-of-the-art technologies for digital transformation and high-performance computing was inaugurated today by Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov, the President of BAS Acad. Julian Revalski and the Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies of BAS (IICT), Corr. Memb. Svetozar Margenov, who heads the Centre of Excellence. The new Bulgarian Hemus supercomputer is part of the complex which includes a data storage system, local application development centres and digitisation facilities.
