International Annual Conference of the Institute for Bulgarian Language

The "Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin" Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is celebrating 83 years since its foundation with a two-day international annual conference which is taking place in the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. The Director of the Institute for Bulgarian Language Prof. Svetla Koeva opened the event and stressed that the forum brought together the cream of researchers who focused their efforts on the Bulgarian language. Over a hundred talented PhD students and pupils gather at the traditional interdisciplinary PhD forum

The sixth Interdisciplinary Doctoral Forum was officially opened on 13 May 2025 at the Grand Hotel Velingrad. The event is organized by the PhD Training Center - BAS and the Career Center at TC-BAS and will last until 16 May 2025. Ninety PhD students from BAS, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and Medical University – Sofia are presenting their scientific developments. The forum was officially opened by Corr. Memb. Popular arias performed by young talents on the BAS stage

A concert under the title "Spring Walk" was performed by the graduates of the National Music Academy last night at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall. Students of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mariana Pencheva presented performances from the Baroque to the music of the 20th century. The program included popular arias from operas by Mozart, Wagner, Georg Handel, Gaetano Donizetti and others. Particularly impressive were the performances of some Master's students, as well as the countertenor Yordan Petev from the Vocal Faculty. Signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between SRTI-BAS and the Deep Space Exploration Laboratory, China

On May 8, 2025, an official meeting and signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Space Research and Technologies Institute of BAS and the Deep Space Exploration Laboratory (DSEL) - a leading Chinese center in the field of deep space research - was held at the building of SRTI-BAS. The event was attended by representatives of DSEL, including Yu Jike (Deputy Director), Shi Meng (Regional Manager) and Zhang Zhongliang (Regional Manager), as well as representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bulgaria - Ning Yongpeng (Second Secretary for Science and Technology) and Guo Dacheng (Second Secretary and Cooperation Coordinator). BAS participates in the Sofia Science Festival

Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are participating in the Sofia Science Festival 2025 which takes place from today to 11 May in Sofia Tech Park. The theme of the demonstrations and discussions, organized by the Institute of Bulgarian Language, is: "Competition with Large Language Models", and their focus is on the following questions: what is the place of language technologies in our everyday life; how to use them properly and when to rely on them; who are the experts in the field of linguistics and language technologies. Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva gets acquainted with BAS scientific projects

The participation of scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the Horizon Europe Framework Programme has been discussed at a meeting at the Academy by the President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva and the Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva. The meeting, which took place today, was attended by BAS Scientific Secretary-General Prof. Neli Koseva and the Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria Yordanka Chobanova.
