The President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva met today at BAS with Acad. Yongguan Zhu, professor in biogeochemistry and soil environmental sciences, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice-President of its International Science Council. Acad. Zhu presented the 2021-2025 “Urban Health and Wellbeing in the Anthropocene” Action Plan developed under the International Science Council's Programme of the same name. Corr. Memb. Slavcheva presented the structure of BAS, the scientific divisions and the scientific cooperation with Chinese organizations. Opportunities for postdoctoral fellowships and exchanges of young scientists, collaboration in different fields of science, and the transdisciplinary approach in science - the impact of research on society, the political process and the economy were discussed.   Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva met today at the Academy with H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Aljaber, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Bulgaria. The President of BAS presented the history and the main scientific divisions of the Academy, and H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Aljaber introduced her to the system of scientific research in the United Arab Emirates. Topics of mutual interest and opportunities for cooperation between scientists from the two countries were discussed. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohamed Elbakari, Political Analyst at the Embassy.  

The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, visited the University of Osaka and met with the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages Prof. Sayo Tsutsui. The meeting, which took place on 7 October, was attended by Prof. Masaaki Shimizu, Head of the Foreign Studies Division, Prof. Dr. Katsumi Fujiwara, Head of the Russian Language Department, Ivo Vladimirov, Lecturer in Bulgarian, Old Bulgarian and Balkan Studies, and five students studying Bulgarian at the Faculty. During the discussion, held in the Momiji Lounge, Dean Tsutsui highlighted the success of the Bulgarian Language and Balkan Studies courses offered at the School of Foreign Languages. Corr. Memb.
