Archaeological exhibition presents Slatina-Sofia 8000 years ago

An archaeological exhibition on the life of the earliest settlement in the Sofia Valley, established by the first farmers and cattle breeders in Europe at the end of the 7th millennium BC and inhabited for more than 500 years, was officially opened on the eve of Sofia Day at the Regional History Museum in the capital. The exhibition includes dozens of artifacts, numerous photographs, graphic images and reenactments that show the lifestyle and spiritual world of the people who laid the foundations of the first European civilization. Six BAS Institutes Participate in the Second Stage of “Heritage BG”

  The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov participated in the inauguration of the second stage of the “Heritage BG” Centre of Excellence project. The event was held at the Egg of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" which is the lead organization of the project. Young researchers on a mission: innovations for a better life in Sofia

                               The project is funded by the Sofia Municipality under the “Sofia – City of the Young and Active” Programme. Sofia will bring together young visionaries ready to offer scientific solutions to the challenges of the modern city. From 21 to 23 October 2025, the capital will host the first Interdisciplinary Hackathon “Young Researchers on a Mission: innovations for a better life in Sofia” - an event that brings together young scientists from different disciplines in search of bold and actionable ideas for a better life. Work starts on the second phase of the Centre of Excellence in Informatics and Information and Communication technologies

The Institute of Information and Communication Technologies has started work on the second phase of the Centre of Excellence in Informatics and Information and Communication Technologies. The consortium includes: the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies - BAS (lead organization), the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics - BAS, the Institute of Mechanics - BAS, the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography - BAS, the Medical University - Sofia, the "Paisii Hilendarski" University of Plovdiv, the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies and the non-profit Association Center of Excellence in Informatics and ICT. MUSICORUM VIA with a new season at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

The first concert of the new season of the "MUSICORUM VIA. Two Academies - One Stage" initiative was held last night in the "Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov and the Rector of the National Music Academy, Prof. Sava Dimitrov, opened the autumn-winter season of the initiative. The Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Acad. Asaf Hajiyev visits BAS

The forthcoming third meeting of the presidents of the academies of sciences in the Black Sea region was discussed at a meeting today at BAS by the President of the Academy, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, and Acad. Asaf Hajiyev – Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC). The event will be held in May 2026; the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will be the host and co-organizer. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, President of the Academy (2016-2024), PABSEC Special Representative to International Scientific Organizations.
