On 28.05. at 6 p.m., the third concert of the "MUSICORUM VIA. Two academies - one stage" series took place. Talented students from the Instrumental Faculty of the "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" National Music Academy performed works by French composers in front of the full hall of BAS. The programme included opuses by Ravel, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Poulenc and others. Particularly impressive were the performances on violin by Viktor Trenev and piano on four hands (Yana Chupetlovska and Konstantin Krondev) which led the listeners to enthusiasm for the mastery of the young musicians and provoked well-deserved compliments to their teachers. The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov met today with the Director of the "Marin Drinov" Center for Bulgarian Studies at the University of Kharkiv Dr. Vladimir Salenkov. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Mikhail Stanchev, a former lecturer in Kharkiv, who since the beginning of the hostilities in Ukraine is part of the Ukrainian scholars whom BAS has offered to continue their academic research in our country. "In Kharkiv, we are proud that our city is the birthplace of Prof. Marin Drinov”, Dr. Salenkov said during the conversation. He introduced Prof. Moutafov with the idea to erect a monument to the prominent Bulgarian scientist and first president of the Bulgarian Learned Society in Kharkiv. Award ceremony of the finalists concluded the "Best Youth Startup in Bulgaria - 2025" competition organized by the Fund of Funds and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski. The event took place on 23 April in the Aula of Sofia University. After a 3-month intensive training and mentoring program, a one-month competition in 5 stages and a serious competition between 260 teams, a jury of 20 professionals selected 11 winners in the three categories: Business Stars (regional small businesses), Future Unicorns (technology and innovative startups), SDG Dragons (projects focused on sustainable development goals). Among the teams that participated, there were 7 teams with a leader young scientist or PhD student from BAS. At a special ceremony held on April 23, 2025 at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Bulgarian National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science awarded diplomas for the most successful projects reported in 2024. Of the 22 awarded projects, 13 are by scientists from BAS. Two projects were awarded for each of the scientific fields, and their leaders were honoured with diplomas. For a project within international cooperation - contracts for national co-funding of COST Actions and bilateral agreements, a diploma was awarded to Prof. DSc.
