The National Festival of Folklore in Koprivshtitsa has kept the tradition for 60 years

The restored second statue of Heraclea Sintica – for the first time in the National Archaeological Institute with Museum of BAS

The fully restored second ancient marble statue of Heraclea Sintica was shown for the first time to the public at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum of BAS (NAIM-BAS) - upright, fortified and with its head restored in place after months of intensive restoration work. The statue was unearthed in 2024 by Prof. Dr. Lyudmil Vagalinski's team during excavations at the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica and is the second of human stature to be found in the ancient city's Grand Canal near Rupite village. The marble monument has stood in the ground for over 1600 years. “Advances in Materials Sciences and Photonics” International Conference organized by IOMT

The Institute of Optical Materials and Technologies (IOMT) hosted the "Advances in Materials Sciences and Photonics" second international conference AMSP'25, funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund. The conference, which took place from 15 to 18 July, brought together renowned specialists from Bulgaria, Taiwan, Italy, Greece and the UK in the field of materials and their applications in optoelectronics, sensorics and photonics. Students, PhD students, postdocs and young scientists participated in the event and presented their research work. Four young scientists were awarded with certificates and financial prizes for the best presentations in the form of oral and poster presentations.

Bulgarian students win medals at the world’s most prestigious informatics competition

The best Bulgarian students in informatics have made a brilliant performance and won 2 gold and 2 silver medals from the most prestigious global informatics contest in the world. Their success this year is the best Bulgarian performance in the history of the International Olympiad in Informatics as in the unofficial team ranking Bulgaria is ranked 4th in the world, ahead of the USA and Japan. The 37th edition of the Olympiad, which was held in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3, was attended by 330 contestants from 86 countries. “Blue Cristal” project for sustainable management of coastal and river environment launched

  The "Blue Coastal Marine and Riverine Innovative & Sustainable Management of Environments and Resources - BLUE-CRISTAL" Centre of Competence was officially launched on 28 and 29 July with a workshop organized by the Institute of Oceanology - BAS - Varna.
