Meeting of Corr. Memb. Slavcheva with the Head of the EC Representation in Bulgaria

  The activities of the BAS institutes were presented by Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva during a meeting with the Head of the EC Representation Yordanka Chobanova. The projects in which the Academy participates through the Horizon Europe programme were discussed. During the conversation, Yordanka Chobanova presented the strategic priorities of the EC for the next five years. Europe's competitiveness is among the key challenges, and to achieve it investments in innovation and research are needed. The successful transition to a low-carbon economy a topic of a meeting at BAS

How the Bulgarian scientists can support the process of successful energy transition in Europe was discussed at a meeting today at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences by the President of the Academy Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva and MEP Radan Kanev. "Our scientists have proven expertise on a number of issues related to the transition to a low-carbon economy, such as carbon capture, storage and processing. “Bats of Vietnam” Exhibition

The exhibition "Bats of Vietnam" opened on January 7, 2025 at the Earth and Man National Museum. The exhibition reflects the research carried out within the framework of the agreement on bilateral scientific cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. The organizer of the event is the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research of BAS, and the main drivers are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Heliana Dundarova (project leader) and Mr. Ladislav Tsvetkov (photographer and multimedia reporter BTV). Meeting of Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva with the Rector of the University of Forestry

The President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva met today with the Rector of the University of Forestry (UF) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hristo Mihaylov. The opportunities for expanding the partnership and cooperation between the two institutions were discussed. Among the topics of the discussion were the activities of the Centre of Competence (Cleantech Bulgaria) project with the participation of the Institute of Organic Chemistry with a Centre of Phytochemistry, the "Stephan Angeloff" Institute of Microbiology and UF. “Marin Drinov” Honorary Medal for two scientists from BAS

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences distinguished Acad. Svetlanka Kuyumdzhieva and Acad. Vassya Bankova with the "Marin Drinov" honorary medal. The awarding ceremony was held today at BAS at a meeting of the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members (AACM). The awards were presented by the President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva. Acad. Svetlanka Kuyumdzhieva received the high award for her significant scientific, scientific - organizational and scientific - administrative activities. The main areas of her research are medieval studies - history, theory, palaeography, source studies, archaeography, liturgy, theology, general history, ethnomusicology, music iconography. Acad.
