New facts about the evolution of the fallow deer

New and interesting facts and patterns reflecting different aspects of the evolution and distribution of the оьввду deer are presented in two papers published in the prestigious scientific journals PNAS and Nature's Scientific Reports. The findings are the result of a complex methodology combining the application of genetic markers and palaeontological data. Leading palaeogeneticists, archaeozoologists and palaeontologists include Prof. Nikolai Spassov from the National Museum of Natural History at BAS (NMNHS-BAS) who is among the authors who formulated the concept of the study. Achievements of the Archaeological Year 2023

Meeting with the Ambassador of Hungary H.E. Miklós Boros

The long-standing and fruitful cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (UAS) was discussed at a meeting between the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, and the Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria H.E. Miklós Boros. Over the past two years, seven joint research projects were carried out in the fields of nanosciences, new materials and technologies, biodiversity, bioresources and ecology, climate change, hazards and natural resources, and cultural heritage and national identity. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, meets with H.E. Yosef Levi-Sfari

Promotion of doctoral programs offered by higher education institutions and scientific organizations in Israel among the Bulgarian scientific community and the long-standing good relations between Bulgaria and Israel were among the topics discussed at the meeting between the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski and the Ambassador of Israel to Bulgaria H. E. Yosef Levi-Sfari. Two “Evrika 2023” awards for young scientists of BAS

A ceremony for the winners of the Evrika (Eureka) Awards 2023 took place at the National Palace of Culture. The prizes were awarded in the presence of Vice President Iliana Iotova, the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, the Chairman of the Council of Evrika Foundation Acad. Kiril Boyanov, the Vice-Rector of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" Prof. Madlen Danova, representatives of the scientific and academic community. Assoc. Prof. Marijana Stamova, PhD from IBSCT-BAS awarded by the Military History Commission

Prof. Dr. Marijana Stamova from the Institute of Balkan Studies with Center of Thracology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was awarded by the Military History Commission with a prize for research on Balkan military history and rapprochement of the countries and peoples of the region. The award was presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Military History Commission Ivan Sapunjiev at a ceremony held on 23 January.
