Minister of Energy R. Radev expressed his gratitude to the team from BAS who participated in the project for the preparation of the National Energy Strategy (with a focus on the electricity sector) in 2018, with the Economic Research Institute as the lead contractor. The partnership between BAS, the energy system companies and the Ministry of Energy is highly appreciated. Meeting of Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, with H.E. Sanjay Rana

An invitation for the participation of representatives of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in this year's edition of the World Oceanology Congress was extended by H.E. Sanjay Rana, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Bulgaria, during his visit to the Academy today.  The congress, organised by the National Institute of Ocean Technology under the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India, will be held between 27-29 February 2024 in the city of Chennai under the title "Sustainable Utilization of Oceans in Blue Economy". Visit of the Ambassador of Slovenia H.E. Nataša Bergelj to BAS

The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, met today with the Ambassador of Slovenia to Bulgaria H.E. Nataša Bergelj. At the meeting in BAS, Prof. Revalski and H.E. Bergelj discussed the development and potential strengthening of scientific cooperation between BAS and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA). The President of BAS extended an invitation to the President of SASA to visit BAS. Ambassador Bergelj was accompanied by Mirela Yolova, a student in Bulgarian Philology at SU “St. Kliment Ohridski” who was one of the participants in the initiative "Ambassador for a Day" - under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Participation of BAS in the prestigious international “Future Minerals Forum” in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 9 to 11 January, hosted the third edition of the Future Minerals Forum - one of the most important conferences for the mining industry, setting global priorities and trends not only in the mining and processing industry but also in the world economy. At the centre of the discussions was society's rapidly growing need for critical raw materials required for renewable energy production, and the actions needed to scale up their extraction. Participants included ministers from over 70 countries, executives from major mining and processing companies, leading global investors, and representatives from geoscience education and research institutions. The President of BAS presents awards at the Academic Oscars ceremony

The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, attended the ceremony "Academic Oscars" for 2023, organized by the "24 hours" newspaper. The awards are based on the Rating System of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria, an annual ranking organized by the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) and a consortium including the Open Society Institute and the Sirma Group. Prof. Julian Revalski presented the awards to the Rectors of the "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" National Academy of Music - Prof. Sava Dimitrov (first place in the Music and Dance Art category) and to the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts, Plovdiv – Prof. Toni Shekherdjieva-Novak (first place in the Art Theory section).
