The prehistoric complex Provadia-Solnitsata impressed the European Parliament

An exhibition dedicated to the prehistoric complex of Provadia-Solnitsata impressed the European Parliament with scientific discoveries about human life at the dawn of European civilization. The exposition is organized with the assistance of the Bulgarian MEP from EPP/GERB Emil Radev and in partnership with the archaeological team under the leadership of Acad. Vassil Nikolov, the National Archaeological Institute and Museum of BAS and the Historical Museum in Provadia. At the opening of the exhibition greetings were given by the host of the event Emil Radev, the Bulgarian EU Commissioner Iliana Ivanova, the Vice-Chair of the EP Committee on Culture and Education Michaela Šojdrová. 95 years Forest Research Institute

An international conference on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Forest Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences took place in the period 19-21 October 2023 at Grand Hotel Astoria. The conference was held under the title "Forests Without Borders" and brought together leading scientists, researchers and international experts who shared the latest research, programmes and policies in the field of forestry, ecology and ecosystem services. The international forum created an opportunity for exchange of experience, fruitful discussions and future collaborations. Scientists from Austria, Serbia, North Macedonia, Greece, Türkiye, Germany, Croatia took part. Altogether 63 reports and 43 posters were presented at the conference. Order of “Saints Cyril and Methodius” First Degree was awarded to Corr. Memb. Stefan Hadjitodorov

President Rumen Radev awarded Corresponding Member Stefan Hadjitodorov with the Order of “Sts. Cyril and Methodius" First Degree at a ceremony held in the Coat of Arms Hall at 2, Dondukov Str. The high state award is for his great services in the field of science. The research interests of Corr. Memb. Hadjitodorov are focused in the areas of data analysis, image recognition, statistical and fuzzy methods for recognition and classification, neural networks, two-level classifiers, speech signal analysis, applications of image recognition theory in medicine, national security and defense problems. International scientific conference ”Space, Ecology, Safety – SES 2023”

The International scientific conference "Space, Ecology, Safety - SES 2023" is taking place from 24 to 26 October 2023 at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS and at the Space Research and Technologies Institute (SRTI). The Forum, which is being held for the nineteenth time, is organised by SRTI. This year's conference is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the “Shipka” scientific programme and the space flight of Alexander Alexandrov. More than 50 real scientific experiments were conducted during the flight of the second Bulgarian cosmonaut Alexander Alexandrov, and the results of these experiments are still being studied by scientists, Corr. BAS and Institut Curie discussed the construction of BioMedRTC

The Vice-President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Corr. Memb. Evdokiya Pasheva, and the Scientific Secretary of the "Biomedicine and Quality of Life" division, Corr. Memb. Nina Atanasova, met with Dorthe Nickel, member of the management of Institut Curie, Paris, an International Relations Officer. The meeting was held at BAS in connection with the establishment of BioMedRTC - Centre of Excellence in Biomedical Research and Technology. The Institut Curie is a world-renowned research institute founded in 1909 by Marie and Pierre Curie. The Institute is a leader in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. Danube Academies Conference

The 12th Danube Academies Conference, organised by the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, took place in Ljubljana from 18 to 20 October 2023. The focus of the event was on pollution problems and challenges arising from climate change. The conference was opened by Prof. Klaus Mainzer, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and by Prof. Peter Štih, President of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Invited speakers were scientists from Germany, Slovenia, Montenegro, Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Belarus.
