The Emerging Leader Award of King’s College London given to a PhD student of BAS

Kaloyan Konstantinov, a PhD student at the Institute of Balkan Studies with Centre for Thracology at BAS (IBSCT-BAS), has been awarded the prestigious Emerging Leader Award of King's College London. Since 2017, the award has been given in 12 categories to distinguished alumni who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and civic leadership. Kaloyan graduated with a Master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies in 2018 in London. In 2021, he enrolled in a PhD programme at IBSCT-BAS on Iran-Balkan relations between 1990-2021. He received the award for his work as an independent journalist covering the hot spots and world-changing events - including the war in Ukraine from the front, protests in Iran, Iraq, Israel, Tunisia and more. BAS awards a GOLD honorary plaquette to the Institute of Oceanology on the occasion of 50 years since its foundation

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences awarded a GOLD honorary plaquette to the "Prof. Fridtjof Nansen” Institute of Oceanology - Varna for its significant achievements in the research, conservation and sustainable use of the Black Sea and its resources and on the occasion of the 50th jubilee of its foundation. The solemn celebration took place in the "Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences sign a cooperation agreement

  A new Agreement for bilateral scientific cooperation was signed by the Presidents of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member, and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Acad. A new 1.5-m telescope explores space from NAO Rozhen from 1 July

  The modern facility was opened 42 years after the construction of the observatory The new robotic telescope of the Institute of Astronomy - BAS was officially unveiled at 12:00 on July 1 on the territory of the National Astronomical Observatory Rozhen. A new experiment with a Bulgarian instrument from the Liulin series on Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo spaceplane

Virgin Galactic company has conducted its first commercial mission into suborbital space with the SpaceShipTwo spaceplane. Scientists of BAS participate in the youth festival “Hello Space! Bulgaria Calling!”

Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences participated in the third edition of the Bulgarian Youth Festival "Hello Space! Bulgaria Calling!" which took place on 29 June in Sofia Tech Park. Its aim is to spark the imagination of children and young people in Bulgaria, to encourage them to dream and plan, to pursue careers in science, technologies, engineering, art and mathematics and to find solutions through science. The event was organised by the national Space & STEAM Cluster and the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, with the support of the US Embassy in Bulgaria and NASA (Houston).
