The newly elected academicians and -corresponding members of BAS receive diplomas

  The diplomas of the new members of the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members of BAS (AACM) were awarded at an official ceremony held in the "Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall. Eleven new academicians and 21 new corresponding members had been elected by the Assembly of Academicians at the elections held in September. In front of the AACM, Prof. Revalski, Member of BAS, made a report on the management of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for the period from 2016 to 2024. The chemical laboratory of the Institute of Oceanology – BAS receives a certificate of accreditation

The Marine Chemistry Testing Laboratory at the Institute of Oceanology-BAS has received an internationally recognized accreditation certificate from the “Bulgarian Accreditation Service” Executive Agency, according to BDS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 which defines the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Thus, the Institute of Oceanology - BAS which is statutorily designated to monitor the ecological and chemical status of marine waters has met the requirements of Article 84 (1) of Regulation No 1 of 11 April 2011 on water monitoring, according to which all analytical methods, including laboratory and field methods, used for the purpose of chemical monitoring programmes should be validated/verified and documented in accordance with BDS EN ISO/IEC-17025 or other equivalent internationally recognised standards. Honorary Medal of the President of BAS for Acad. Asaf Hajiyev

Professor Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, has presented today the Honorary Medal of the President of BAS to Acad. Asaf Hajiyev - Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. The award is given for his significant contribution to raising the role of science and national academies of sciences in the cooperation between the PABSEC countries. The organization is a unique model for a multilateral political and economic initiative to harmonize the actions of member states, to ensure peace, security and development of the Black Sea region in the spirit of friendly relations. Large-scale project presents the work of BAS members

An exhibition of works of fine art by members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is open in the Central Foyer of the BAS until 3 December. Eight paintings and two sculptures mark the beginning of a permanent exhibition of artworks by Academy members. The idea is part of the management programme of Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, whose second term of office expires on December 7. The exhibition includes works by Ivan Murkvicka, Ivan Lazarov, Dechko Uzunov, Todor Dinov, Iliya Petrov, Ivan Nenov, Rumen Skorchev, Svetlin Rusev and Vejdi Rashidov. Open Doors Day at the Institute of Polymers

The Institute of Polymers-BAS organized an information campaign "Open Doors Day" which took place on 26 November. Economists of BAS: Corruption is not the most serious barrier to business

Contrary to the prevailing public opinion that corruption is the number one problem, business in Bulgaria manages to overcome it. This was stated by Prof. Spartak Keremidchiev from the Economic Research Institute at BAS during the conference "Economic Development and Policies: Reality and Prospects. European Integration, Convergence and Cohesion" organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Institute.
