New paper demonstrates high microplastic pollution in marine sediments associated with urbanised areas along the SW Bulgarian Black Sea coast

Prof. Dr. Vencislav Karamfilov was published in the internation journal Marine Pollution Bulletin (IF 5.3). Participants from four continents at the “Cultural Diplomacy and the Balkans: Achievements and Challenges in the Present Time” international conference

The Institute of Balkan Studies with Center for Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Ministry of Culture and in institutional partnership with the State Cultural Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Gallery organized an international conference on "Cultural Diplomacy and the Balkans: achievements and challenges in the present time". Fifty-five years Space Research and Technology Institute

Five cosmonauts at BAS for the anniversary session The Space Research and Technology Institute (SRTI-BAS) celebrated its 55th anniversary as well as the 45th anniversary of the flight of the first Bulgarian cosmonaut Georgi Ivanov and the 20th anniversary of the "Space, Ecology, Safety" international scientific conference. On the occasion of the anniversaries, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences held a solemn jubilee session-assembly under the auspices of President Rumen Radev. The Economic Research Institute celebrates 75 years since its founding

The Economic Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences celebrated 75 years since its establishment with a gala celebration at the Academy. The Director of the Institute, Prof. Irena Zareva, gave a welcome speech and recalled that the idea for the establishment of the Institute was born in 1947, and in 1949, by a decision of the Governing Council of BAS, it was established as a unit of the Academy. Awarding of Bulgarian scientists by the University of Lodz, Poland

The solemn meeting of the University Senate: Prof. Ivan Biliarsky, Prof. Susana Reboreda Morillo (Universidad de la Rioja, Fac. de Historia), Prof. Anna-Maria Totomanova, Prof. Mariyana Tsibranska-Kostova. Three Bulgarian scientists were awarded with the Universitatis Lodziensis Amico Medal by the University of Lodz, Poland on 14 October. These are Prof. Mariyana Tsibranska, DSc (Institute of Bulgarian Language, BAS), Prof. Ivan Biliarsky, DSc (Institute of Historical Studies, BAS) and Prof. Anna-Maria Totomanova, DSc (Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski"). The awards were presented at a ceremony at the University of Lodz where the Rector's insignia were given. "This is an extremely important initiative for Bulgaria and I am glad that we meet your support and understanding for it.
