The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski meets with Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil

His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil received the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, in the Holy Synod Palace on August 13. During the meeting, Patriarch Daniil thanked the President of BAS for the assistance provided in the holding of the Fourth Patriarchal Electoral Church Council, highlighting the traditionally good relations between the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Prof. Revalski invited the Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church to take part in the celebrations to be held in October on the occasion of the 155th anniversary of BAS. Another successful expedition of palaeontologists from NMNHS-BAS

The seventh palaeontological expedition of the National Museum of Natural History at BAS to the locality of dinosaurs and other vertebrate fauna of Late Cretaceous epoch near the town of Tran took place from 2 to 10 August 2024. The team led by Assoc. Prof. Latinka Hristova included Asst. Vladimir Nikolov and Ralitsa Bogdanova from NMNHS-BAS, Prof. Marlena Yaneva and Assoc. Prof. Lubomir Metodiev from the "Strashimir Dimitrov" Geological Institute of BAS as well as volunteers Gergana Velyanova from the Institute of Mineralogy and Crystallography of BAS and Georgi Sevov. A delegation from BAS visits the Mongolian Academy of Sciences in Ulaanbaatar

In the period 30 July - 3 August 2024, a delegation from BAS consisting of the President of the Academy Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, and the Scientific Secretary-General of BAS Prof. Neli Koseva is visiting the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. At the official meeting with the MAS leadership, held on 31 July, the delegation was introduced to the stages in the historical development of the MAS and its current structure and functions in society and the state as well as its international activities. A new project on the design of innovative polymeric materials as biocontrol agents with application in eco-agriculture is being implemented at IP – BAS

The project BG-RRP-2.011-0005-C01 "Design of Innovative Polymeric Materials as Biocontrol Agents with Application in Eco-Agriculture" (AGROBIOMAT), funded by the European Union - Next Generation EU through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism for the implementation of the investment under C2I2 "Enhancing the Innovation Capacity of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) in the Field of Green and Digital Technologies" of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, has been launched and is being implemented at the Institute of Polymers - BAS. BAS hosts the scientific conference “Climate Risks in the Black Sea Region”

The President of BAS Professor Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, opened the scientific conference "Climate Risks in the Black Sea Region" by stressing the great importance of science in solving large-scale problems such as climate change. The conference accompanies the 61st session of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and takes place at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (25-26 July 2024). Bulgarian scientists to explore near space from Antarctica

Bulgaria's first polar astronomical project will take place in 2024-2025. "Impact of solar activity on ionospheric dynamics and high-energy particle fluxes over Antarctica" is the title of the first Bulgarian polar astronomical research project which will be carried out in 2024-2025 on the territory of the Bulgarian Antarctic Base on Livingston Island. The team of scientists from the Institute of Astronomy with NAO at BAS, the Technical University - Sofia and the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy which will work on its implementation is headed by Associate Professor Dr. Kamen Kozarev.
