MUSICORUM VIA presents “Music in Black and White”

  Pianists from the Instrumental Faculty of the National Music Academy performed works by composers Franz Schubert, Ferenc Liszt, Robert Schumann, Pancho Vladigerov, Béla Bartók, Alexander Scriabin, Igor Stravinsky, and Guido Agosti. The piano concert took place on November 10 in the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS as part of the initiative of the “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Music Academy and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, “MUSICORUM VIA. Two academies – one stage”. The “BAS presents:” initiative has begun

  Yana Petkova-Karakashova's exhibition "On the Road" is on display in the foyer of the Academy until November 21. The “BAS Presents:” initiative began on November 10 at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the opening of Yana Petkova-Karakashova's exhibition “On the Road.” The idea came from the Vice-President of BAS, Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov. BAS Team wins award for open science

A research team led by Prof. Desislava Paneva-Marinova from the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS was awarded the first prize for overall contribution to open science “ORBIT” 2025. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Acad. Nikolay Vitanov, presented the awards, which would be given annually, for the first time. The aim of the awards is to encourage the application of the principles of open and responsible science and innovation (Open and Responsible Research and Innovation - #ORRI) in Bulgarian universities and scientific organizations which were promoted last year by the ORBIT project – Incubator for Open Scientific Research under the European Union's REINFORCING program. Award for “Correct and Rich Bulgarian Language in Journalism” for Kiril Valchev

The Governing Council of BAS awarded the Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Kiril Valchev with the distinction “For Correct and Rich Bulgarian Language in Journalism.” The President of the Academy, Corr. The International Center for Mathematical Sciences presents its new research groups

The President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, participated in the official opening of a conference of the International Center for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The event featured presentations of the Center's new research groups led by world-renowned scientists in various fields of contemporary fundamental and applied mathematics. The director of ICMC Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, opened the conference and presented the Center's activities from its establishment in 2019 to the present. Sensors and self-cleaning surfaces for solar panels created by scientists from the Institute of Electronics

Sensors for measuring air and water pollution and self-cleaning surfaces for photovoltaic panels are being developed by scientists from the Institute of Electronics at BAS as part of a project funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The results of the research, obtained with the help of laser technologies, were presented at the “Science and Practice in Innovative Materials and Green Technologies for Sustainable Development” forum which took place on November 5 and 6 in Sofia. Initial experiments have shown that the sensors are a reliable method for analyzing water and beverages. They react to contaminants, are easy to manufacture, and are suitable for repeated use.
