Honorary medal “Marin Drinov” for Corr. Memb. Ilza Pajeva

Corr. Memb. Ilza Pajeva was awarded with the "Marin Drinov" honorary medal of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The award was presented by the President of the Academy Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, during a ceremony held on 14 December 2023. The medal is awarded for her high scientific achievements, multifaceted public, organizational, expert and pedagogical activities which are an indispensable contribution to the elevation of the authority of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Bulgarian science at home and abroad and on the occasion of her 70th anniversary. Award for outstanding publication in the field of Bulgarian studies

Prof. Dr. Ana Luleva of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum has been awarded the John D. Bell Memorial Book Prize for outstanding publications in the field of Bulgarian Studies by the Bulgarian Studies Association for her monograph "Culture of (Dis)Trust in Bulgaria. Anthropological Perspectives”. The prize is awarded jointly to Prof. Luleva and Prof. Theodora Dragostinova for the book "The Cold War from the Margins: A Small Socialist State on the Global Cultural Scene”. Presentation of the results of the participation of the Institute of Art Studies in the project “Creation and development of “Heritage BG” Centre of Excellence”

On 12 December 2023, the results of the participation of the Institute for Art Studies (IAS) in the project "Creation and development of “Heritage BG” Centre of Excellence" funded under the "Science and Education for Smart Growth" Operational Programme were presented. It focuses on the discovery and promotion of cultural heritage in Bulgaria and aims both to provide better conditions for conducting high-level research and to introduce new technologies in the field to enhance the potential of applied science. ОOfficial closing of the National Scientific Programme ” Innovative low-toxic bioactive systems for precision medicine (BioActiveMed)”

On December 13, 2023, the official closure of the National Scientific Programme "Innovative Low-toxic Bioactive Agents for Precision Medicine (BioActiveMed)" was held in the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. The presentation was attended by Corr. Memb. Evdokiya Pasheva - Vice-President of BAS, members of the leadership of BAS, members of AACM and representatives of higher education institutions. Young scientists of BAS were among the finalists of the Huawei Technologies Bulgaria scholarship program

An official annual closing ceremony of the Huawei Technologies Bulgaria Scholarship Program and the Seeds for the Future training program, which have been implemented in 2023, was held on December 12 in Sofia. Among the finalists of the Huawei Technologies Bulgaria Scholarship Program are two young scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Iskren Ivanov is a PhD student at the Space Research and Technology Institute - BAS and for the second time is a finalist of the scholarship program. Four awards for young scientists of BAS

The Vice-President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evdokiya Pasheva presented four prizes to young scientists who were awarded in the competition for the best publication in the field of humanities and social sciences, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Nayden Gerov. Kalina Tomova from the Institute of Art Studies received first prize in the competition. The second prize was awarded to Darina Boykina from the Institute of Art Studies. The jury awarded two third prizes to Julia Popcheva from the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies and two young researchers from the National Archaeological Institute with Museum - Eva Tonkova and Veselina Dimitrova.
