New academicians of BAS elected

Four new full members (academicians) in the field of biological and engineering sciences have been elected today by the Assembly of Academicians of BAS. No academician has been elected in the scientific area of Earth Sciences. In the Biological Sciences Branch, the following have been elected academicians: Academician Rumen Georgiev Pankov. He was born in 1955. He is a world-renowned scientist in the field of cell and molecular biology. He works at the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". Meeting of Prof. Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, with H.E. Frédéric Meurice

The President of BAS, Prof. Julian Revalski met with the Ambassador of Belgium in Bulgaria H.E. Frédéric Meurice. They discussed the possibilities for expanding the cooperation between the Academy and the scientific organisations of Belgium. Among the topics of the discussion was the current agreement between BAS and Wallonie-Bruxelles International, a body governing the international relations of the regions of Wallonia and Bruxelles, including international scientific activities. Multidisciplinary team from BAS applies innovative marker technologies in plant biodiversity research
