The implementation of the “Sustainable Development of the Heritage BG Center of Excellence (CoE) project funded under the grant procedure "Sustainable Development of Centres of Excellence and Centres of Competence including specific infrastructures or their clusters from the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructure", has started. Three young scientists from BAS meet with Nobel laureates in Lindau

  Three young Bulgarian chemists took part in the 74th edition of the Nobel Laureate Meeting with Young Scientists in Chemistry. The event took place in Lindau, Germany, from 29 June to 4 July. Erik Dimitrov from the Institute of Polymers, Lyuben Borislavov from the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry and Boris Yanachkov from the Institute of Metal Science, Equipment and Technologies with Centre of Hydro and Aerodynamics "Acad. Angel Balevski” took part in the meeting which was attended by 30 Nobel laureates and over 600 young researchers. Visit to BAS of Prof. Jie Meng – one of the world’s leading nuclear physicists

The Vice-President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva held a meeting with Prof. Jie Meng, who is among the world's leading physicists in the field of theoretical nuclear physics and is a lecturer at Peking University. During the talks at the Academy, issues related to the development of young and talented people in both countries were discussed. Participating in the meeting was the Director of the Institute of Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy of BAS, Prof. Dimitar Tonev (INRNE-BAS). Prof. Meng shared the experience of the Chinese Ministry of Education and Peking University in the development of human resources and in achieving scientific excellence as well as the establishment of physics schools in China. Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva meets with representatives of the “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” international foundation

The cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” international foundation was discussed at a meeting today at BAS by Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva and representatives of the Foundation. Among the topics of discussion were joint initiatives on the occasion of the celebration of the 1160th anniversary of the conversion of the Bulgarians and the 1170th anniversary of the creation of the Bulgarian alphabet. “St. St. Cyril and St. Methodius” Foundation will continue to support the activities of the High-School-Students’ Institute of BAS (HSSI-BAS). The meeting was attended by the President of the Foundation, Prof. Stefan Stefanov, and the Executive Director Mihael Tachev.

Honorable mentions for Prof. Aleksander Naumow from Bulgaria and Poland

With a particularly solemn and lavish ceremony, according to its centuries-old tradition, on 24 June Jagiellonian University renewed the doctorate of the doyen of Polish Paleo-Slavic studies, Bulgarian and Cyrillo-Methodian studies, Prof. Aleksander Naumow - on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its bestowing. The Rector of the University, Prof. DSc Piotr Jedynak presented the merits of Prof. Naumow to their Alma Mater, his enormous scientific and didactic contribution, as well as his numerous and productive ideas that gave a strong impetus to the study of the spiritual culture of Slavdom.
