Professor Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, presented today the Honorary Medal of the President of BAS to the Director General of BTA Kiril Valchev. The award is given for high professionalism, journalistic ethics and long-standing contribution to the coverage of the Academy’s achievements in the international and national media space.
The cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Bulgarian News Agency deepened after Mr. Valchev took over as Director General, said Prof. Revalski at the ceremony. He thanked the journalists of the media for their efforts to promote the activities of scientists not only in the country but also abroad. The quality of scientific production is very high and it is necessary for this to be heard around the world because the level of scientific research influences foreign investment.
I take this medal not as a sign of merit but as a sign of great duty to represent those who truly deserve it. I also see it as a recognition for the Bulgarian media in general, said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev. He recalled the successful initiatives between the two institutions, giving the example of the official visit to Romania of a BAS delegation and BTA representatives dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the Bulgarian Learned Society.
The ceremony at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was attended by the Vice-Presidents of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva and Corr. Memb. Stefan Hadjitodorov as well as representatives of Kiril Valchev’s family.
