The official opening of the Doctoral School at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of BAS took place today at the “Acad. Ivan E. Geshov” Hall of the Academy. The Doctoral School is established for the purpose of training under the project “Training of doctoral students for research and transformation of the labor market according to the needs of Industry 5.0. and the dual transition”. The school aims to create new skills in relation to the digital transition and the realization of participants in innovative fields in underdeveloped and developing regions and is part of a comprehensive academic development program.
On behalf of the leadership of BAS, Prof. Neli Koseva made a welcome speech and emphasized the exceptional initiative, high professionalism and courage of the scientists for the establishment of the new school. She recalled that BAS had a long tradition in the training of personnel and pointed out their very good realization. “Ten PhD students have been enrolled,” the Director of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Prof. Emilia Chengelova, said and made a presentation on the project activities. The competitively selected PhD students have experience in state and local administration, business and NGO sector.
The opening was attended by faculty and scientists from the IPS involved in international projects related to AI, quantum computing development and advanced forms of networking, as well as representatives of the Programme Managing Authority.
