The sixth Interdisciplinary Doctoral Forum was officially opened on 13 May 2025 at the Grand Hotel Velingrad. The event is organized by the PhD Training Center – BAS and the Career Center at TC-BAS and will last until 16 May 2025.

Ninety PhD students from BAS, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and Medical University – Sofia are presenting their scientific developments.

The forum was officially opened by Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva, Director of the Training Center – BAS and Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, President of BAS. They wished the PhD students fruitful and successful work.

Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva congratulated the participants in the event and shared her joy in seeing new faces which means that the PhD students from the previous forums had already defended their theses. She wished a successful defence to the current PhD students. She pointed out that for the first year, students from the High-School-Students’ Institute at TC-BAS were also participating in the forum and would present their work. She stressed that this was a good initiative through which they could present what they were working on and find among the PhD students their mentors and inspirers to continue doing science. She advised the future young scientists along with enjoying the benefits of modern technologies not to stop developing their intellectual abilities.

Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva said: “Modern science is interdisciplinary and is one of the professions where one has the greatest freedom, where the spirit and interests can be given all kinds of vastness. It is also a profession characterized by tolerance, a spirit of friendship and teamwork.” The President of BAS also stressed the benefit of communicating with colleagues, sharing interests, common themes, generating new ideas, laying the foundations for cooperation, creating new friendships. She wished the PhD students to create such an atmosphere during the forum, to be active, inspired, not to be afraid to ask their questions.

The participants in the forum got useful information for their career and scientific development from the lecture on the opportunities for PhD students under the Erasmus+ programme. A practical workshop on preparing illustrations for scientific articles is also included in the event.
