Valuable cultural and historical artifacts, rescued and returned to the country with the support of international partners, were presented on May 14 at the Ministry of Culture.
The ceremony of the presentation of the artifacts was attended by the Minister of Culture Marian Bachev, the Deputy Minister Dr. Todor Chobanov, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Bulgaria H.E. Raymund Furrer and the Deputy Head of the German Mission in Sofia Stephan Röken. The main highlight of the exposition is a unique gladiator’s helmet dating back to the middle of the 1st century AD estimated at a market value of about 3 million euros.
The physicochemical studies of the helmet used for its complex characterization were carried out in the laboratories of the Institute of Physical Chemistry. The equipment was provided by the INFRAMAT project, part of the National Roadmap for Scientific Infrastructure.
