The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences presented a GOLDEN honorary plaquette to Krasimira Stoyanova, former interim Minister of Transport and Communications. The award was presented by the President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, for her significant contribution to the process of naming Sofia Airport after Vasil Levski.

The ceremony which took place at the Academy today was attended by Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS (President of the Academy – 2016-2024) and Corr. Memb. Atanas Semov.

For many years, scientists and public figures have been trying to make this change which proved impossible without people like you. With these words, Prof. Revalski addressed Krasimira Stoyanova and recalled the important support of Tsveta Timeva – Secretary-General to President Rumen Radev. Krasimira Stoyanova thanked for the award and said that the successfully completed and prolonged process of naming the airport was proof that all these efforts had made sense.

On 17 February this year, the President issued a decree naming the national airport after Vasil Levski. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is preparing two versions of brochures that will be distributed at the airport in Bulgarian and English. One will have information about Bulgaria, and the other will present Vasil Levski.
