The Institute of Oceanology – BAS organized an educational event in the Sea Garden of Burgas on the occasion of the World Ocean Day on 8 June. The initiative brought together scientists, children, students and nature lovers at the Flora Exposition Centre. The message of the event was related to the need for a responsible attitude towards the oceans – the key to the future of our planet.

Visitors had the opportunity to get acquainted with modern oceanographic instruments used by scientists in their research as well as to see under the microscope and through preparations a small part of the living world of the Black Sea. Specially created materials for children were also presented – the comic book „Пътешествие с наблюдателите на океана“ (Journey with the Ocean Watchers) and the illustrated book „Невидимите в Черно море“ (The Invisibles in the Black Sea).

The event is part of the Black Sea Blue Academy 2025 project and is supported by OMV Petrom. Partners are Burgas Municipality, the Regional Information Centre Burgas, the Green Balkans Federation and the Non-profit Association “Friends of the Sea – Burgas” who participated with educational activities.
