With a particularly solemn and lavish ceremony, according to its centuries-old tradition, on 24 June Jagiellonian University renewed the doctorate of the doyen of Polish Paleo-Slavic studies, Bulgarian and Cyrillo-Methodian studies, Prof. Aleksander Naumow – on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its bestowing. The Rector of the University, Prof. DSc Piotr Jedynak presented the merits of Prof. Naumow to their Alma Mater, his enormous scientific and didactic contribution, as well as his numerous and productive ideas that gave a strong impetus to the study of the spiritual culture of Slavdom.

After reading the Latin form of the renewal and presenting it to the jubilarian, the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova handed Prof. Naumow the Order of Sts. Cyril and Methodius for his outstanding achievements in the study of the Cyrillo-Methodian tradition and its significance for Bulgaria and Orthodoxy.

On behalf of the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, congratulations were offered by Prof. Dr. Slavia Burlieva who also presented Prof. Naumow with a cordial message from the staff of the Cyrillo-Methodian Research Centre.
