The Vice-President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva held a meeting with Prof. Jie Meng, who is among the world’s leading physicists in the field of theoretical nuclear physics and is a lecturer at Peking University. During the talks at the Academy, issues related to the development of young and talented people in both countries were discussed. Participating in the meeting was the Director of the Institute of Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy of BAS, Prof. Dimitar Tonev (INRNE-BAS).

Prof. Meng shared the experience of the Chinese Ministry of Education and Peking University in the development of human resources and in achieving scientific excellence as well as the establishment of physics schools in China. Corr. Memb. Pasheva presented successful practices at BAS for the training of PhD students and their subsequent development in Bulgaria.

Prof. Jie Meng has been elected Professor Emeritus and has been Visiting Professor at a number of prestigious universities and research institutes around the world. He is the founder of a school for young gifted physicists in China where he teaches. He has won numerous prestigious awards and is a member of the Academia Europaea.

The visit of Prof. Meng to Bulgaria is at the invitation of the Director of INRNE Prof. Dimitar Tonev. Prof. Jie Meng participated today in the traditional annual seminar on theoretical nuclear physics organized by INRNE. At the institute, he presented a paper entitled “Expedition of the Nuclear Chirality“.

Prof. Meng specializes and works at some of the most prestigious universities and research centers around the world. He is a Humboldt Fellow at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, and a Visiting Researcher at the Riken Cyclotron Laboratory, Japan.
