Meeting of the leadership of ERI at BAS with a delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, led by H.E. Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy

On 10.07.2025 at the Economic Research Institute (ERI), a meeting was held of the leadership of ERI at BAS with a five-member delegation of the Ministry of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman led by H.E. Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy, organized on his initiative. Dr. Al-Saqri is visiting Bulgaria at the invitation of the Minister of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Peter Dilov.

The meeting discussed potential opportunities for bilateral cooperation of mutual interest in the field of research on mechanisms to enhance economic diversification and achieve sustainable growth, visions for economic development in the new geopolitical environment as well as specific sectors such as trade, investment, high technology, ICT and artificial intelligence, energy and renewable sources, tourism, etc.

H.E. Dr. Al-Saqri pointed out that stable domestic politics, strategic geographical location and sustainable economic development had established the Sultanate of Oman as an important economic player in the Middle East region which was a potential for beneficial bilateral cooperation, including in the field of scientific research.

The Director of ERI, Prof. Irena Zareva-Zafirova, stressed that the Institute had the necessary expertise for research partnership in the discussed areas and supported Dr. Al-Saqri’s proposal to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with the assistance of the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and Industry.
