8-10 September 2025

The 15th international conference RANLP-2025 (Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing) started in Varna on 8 September and would continue until 10 September. It is part of the RANLP series of scientific events, always held in Bulgaria in September in odd-numbered years, and is the most renowned event in computational linguistics in Eastern Europe. They are organized by Bulgarians – on the initiative of Prof. Ruslan Mitkov from the University of Lancaster, UK, who is the chairman of the Programme Committee. Since 2001, the Bulgarian co-organizer is the “Artificial Intelligence and Language Technology” Section of IICT-BAS, with Prof. Galia Angelova as the Chair of the Organizing Committee.

RANLP events address central scientific challenges in information and communication technologies – automatic natural language processing and understanding (by machines), the creation of natural language voice interfaces and human-like artificial intelligence. The 2025 conference is focusing on large language models, dialog assistants, and the application of generative artificial intelligence in natural language processing. In recent years, the RANLP conference has become a prestigious global event. It publishes Open Access Proceedings, indexed by SCOPUS (with SJR-rank) and DLBP. Since 2017, RANLP has had its own virtual archive and has maintained DOI-numbers.

In 2025, four invited talks and 170 papers will be presented in 4 parallel sessions on 8-10 September. RANLP-2025 includes a separate scientific workshop for PhD students and is accompanied by a summer school (with Bulgarian participants awarded from a competition held) and training courses on 3-7 September, as well as 12 international workshops on specialised topics organised on 11-13 September. More than 250 scientists are participating in the Forum.
