Sylvia Varhoshkova, PhD student at the Institute of Molecular Biology at BAS, represented Bulgaria at the 11th International Final of the competition “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” which took place on October 2 in Bucharest, Romania.

After winning the first prize at the national final of the competition which took place on 28 May this year at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS, Sylvia Varhoshkova presented her dissertation topic “Role and dynamics of FET proteins at sites of complex DNA damage” to an international audience.

The prestigious event, organised by the Francophone University Agency (AUF), brought together 20 young scientists from different parts of the world to compete for the grand prize.

The international competition Ma Thèse en 180 secondes (MT180) is a unique opportunity for young Francophone researchers to present their dissertation topic in a clear and accessible way, within three minutes. The challenge is to convince a jury of non-specialists of the relevance and originality of their research.
