The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) celebrated its 80th anniversary from November 2 to 5. Among the guests of honor at the Academy was Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, President of BAS.
The solemn celebration took place in the Central Building of ANAS in Baku. The President, Acad Isa Habibbayli, opened the program with a speech entitled “ANAS: History and Present Day.” The film “ANAS: Temple of Science and Science as a Temple” was screened in the Grand Hall of the Academy.
In her congratulatory address to ANAS, Corr. Memb. Slavcheva welcomed the efforts made by the Azerbaijani scientific community to develop and promote science in the Republic of Azerbaijan and to establish ANAS as a leading research organization in the country. She emphasized the role of the Academy in building bridges between the Azerbaijani and international scientific communities. She gave an example of the fruitful cooperation between BAS and ANAS within the framework of which a number of joint initiatives had been successfully implemented, including work on scientific projects in areas of priority for both countries. These activities contribute not only to the development of the relevant scientific fields but also to strengthening the ties between the scientific communities of the two countries.
BAS is ready to work to deepen relations between the two academies and open up new opportunities for cooperation, she added in her address.
