A research team led by Prof. Desislava Paneva-Marinova from the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS was awarded the first prize for overall contribution to open science “ORBIT” 2025. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Acad. Nikolay Vitanov, presented the awards, which would be given annually, for the first time. The aim of the awards is to encourage the application of the principles of open and responsible science and innovation (Open and Responsible Research and Innovation – #ORRI) in Bulgarian universities and scientific organizations which were promoted last year by the ORBIT project – Incubator for Open Scientific Research under the European Union’s REINFORCING program.

The team of Prof. Desislava Paneva-Marinova was awarded for developing and implementing open access digital libraries for scientific, educational, and public institutions in Bulgaria. In 2024-2025, the team developed and implemented the digital libraries of the University Library of Sofia University and of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics.

Prof. Desislava Paneva-Marinova is a member of the leadership of the ninth General Assembly of BAS.
