A meeting between BAS President, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, and French Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Mrs. Marie Dumoulin took place today at the Academy. The occasion for the visit was the joint celebration of the 60th anniversary of the signing of the first agreement between BAS and the National Center for Scientific Research of France (CNRS) – the first such bilateral agreement between the Academy and a Western European country.
During the meeting, the traditionally good relations between Bulgaria and France were discussed as well as the long history of bilateral scientific cooperation. Emphasis was placed on the significant results of the partnership, including the successful projects won by Bulgarian and French teams under the Horizon Europe Framework Program.
Future priorities for cooperation were also discussed, including strengthening scientific contacts in the fields of physics, biology, chemistry, archaeology, and social sciences. Among the main topics was the expansion of doctoral student exchanges between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva, Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, the Director of the French Institute in Bulgaria, Mr. Luc Lévy, and Mr. Arnaud Baubérot, Attaché for Scientific and University Cooperation.
