On December 10, a solemn ceremony was held to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Kosova Academy of Sciences and Arts (ASHAK). The ceremony was opened by Ms. Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, President of the Republic of Kosovo, and by the President of ASHAK, Acad. Mehmet Kraja who is a lecturer at the University of Pristina in the field of Albanian Language and Literature, author of short stories, novels, plays, and literary criticism texts. Greetings were delivered by the Albanian President Mr. Bayram Begaj, as well as the President of the Academy of Sciences of Albania Acad. Skënder Gjinushi, and the Vice-President of ALLEA Prof. Marie Louise Noche; Prof. Massimo Della Valle from the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, Mr. Lucian Brujan, Berlin Process Coordinator for Education, Science and Innovation, the presidents of the academies of Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and the Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Among the official guests at the celebrations was Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov, Vice-President of BAS. He met with Acad. Mehmet Kraja on December 9 and presented him with a congratulatory address from Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva on the occasion of the jubilee as well as an original bronze sculpture of a rose to mark the anniversary and the cooperation between ASHAK and BAS. At the meeting, the state of bilateral relations between the two academies as well as the possibility of deepening and expanding them was discussed. Prof. Moutafov also held informal talks with other official guests at the jubilee celebration from the Balkans and other parts of Europe.

The celebrations were accompanied by a rich musical program directed by Acad. Rauf Dhomi.
