The annual Evrika Awards for achievements in science and for the best young manager, inventor, and farmer were presented at a ceremony held on January 28. The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Shtelian Shterionov participated in the award ceremony and presented the awards to three of the winners.
The Evrika Award for achievements in science went to Dr. Monika Mutovska from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The award for young inventor was presented to Dr. Daniel Denev from Shumen University “Bishop Konstantin of Preslav”. Doctoral student Elena Blagoeva from the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies of BAS was awarded an honorary diploma for her excellent performance in the Young Inventor competition. She is co-author of a protected patent for the “Device for dosing the food of agricultural animals” invention registered by the Patent Office.
At the ceremony, the Evika Award for Best Young Manager of 2025 was presented to Dr. Antoan Shotarov for his significant achievements in implementing innovative entrepreneurial projects, while Mitko Ivanov received the Evrika Award for Young Farmer.
The Vice-President of the BAS Prof. Shtelian Shterionov congratulated the organizers and participants in the competition. “I congratulate all the young people who, through their efforts and inspiration, have shown that there is a young generation in the country that can build the future. Congratulations also to the organizers who support them and create conditions for their development. For BAS, as the largest national research institution in the country, it is extremely important to support these young people who build the bridge between science and practice,” said Prof. Shterionov in his speech.
The Evrika Awards were presented for the 36th consecutive year. Fifty pupils and students with outstanding abilities in science and technology were awarded scholarships named after famous Bulgarian scientists and artists who have contributed to Bulgarian and world science and technology. The certificates were presented by Grigor Tzankov, Executive Director of the Evrika Foundation, and Acad. Kiril Boyanov, Chairman of the Foundation’s Council.
